Engineers of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday declared an Indian airline’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 unfit for travel after inspecting the aircraft at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

The aircraft, which was operating from Mumbai, was forced to make an emergency landing in Karachi after developing a technical fault.
138 Passengers Stranded in Karachi
Following the emergency landing, the aircraft’s 138 passengers remained stranded at Karachi airport for more than 12 hours.
PIA engineers inspected the technically faulty Boeing 737 MAX 8 and subsequently declared the aircraft unfit for flight.
The passengers were moved to the lounge at Jinnah International Airport while arrangements were made to transport them to their destination.
Alternative SpiceJet Flight Arrives
An alternative SpiceJet flight SG9911 arrived in Karachi from Mumbai at around 4:42pm to carry the stranded passengers to Dubai.

The replacement aircraft subsequently transported all 138 passengers from Karachi to Dubai.
The Civil Aviation Authority provided the stranded passengers with food and other necessary amenities during their stay at the airport.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has shortlisted Tewolde Gebremariam, the former chief executive officer (CEO) of Ethiopian Airlines Group, to lead the revival of the national airline, according to a Bloomberg report.
Citing a source familiar with the matter, the report said the newly privatised airline is aiming to make an official announcement by Sunday, although the appointment is still subject to completion of formal procedures.
Gebremariam previously served as the chief executive of Ethiopian Airlines Group, where he oversaw the airline’s expansion into Africa’s largest carrier and strengthened its network through its Addis Ababa hub.
The report said his selection could support the efforts of the Arif Habib Group-led consortium to revive PIA following its acquisition of a majority stake in the airline.

Grooming tools with components exceeding 6 cm, swords, knives, and other bladed weapons are also not allowed. Passengers are barred from carrying handcuffs, firearms, ammunition, flare guns, laser guns, and walkie-talkies, reinforcing the list of items not allowed in hand baggage.
