WB promised $500m for housing in Sindh: CM

In a high-level meeting between the World Bank and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, important proposals were discussed out of which, the international loan fund decided to back a housing project worth $500m.

The Chief Secretary, Chairman of P&D, Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister and Provincial Secretaries were present in the meeting and reviewed the World Bank’s funding for flood emergency works in December. The Sindh govt has announced that the company responsible for the project is coming up with a transparent procedure for the construction of the houses.

Construction and repair of roads in Karachi are going on rapidly the chief minister told the media after the meeting, the chief minister told the meeting.

The chief minister told the World Bank that the Sindh government has also ordered to buy of tents, mosquito nets, dewatering machines and boats worth 22 million dollars in light of flood preparation and all the purchases will be completed by the end of this month.
