Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the administrator of Karachi, gave his subordinates the order to clean up the MA Jinnah Road area in front of Muharramul Haram on Thursday.
“The Red Line and Green Line development projects need to move more quickly. The Administrator gave these instructions at a meeting with a high-level delegation of Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) in his office here. “MA Jinnah Road must be repaired for traffic and pedestrians before Ashura,” he said.
Imtiaz Ali, Manager Technical, Shakoor Pathan, and other officers attended the meeting along with Municipal Commissioner Syed Afzal Zaidi.
SIDCL gave Administrator Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab a briefing on the current construction projects being done on Sher Shah Suri Road and MA Jinnah Road. He was informed that work was being done to upgrade the Sher Shah Suri Road service road. On this road, three flyovers were built, which improved traffic flow.
According to the Administrator, Jamia Cloth Market and Tower will both receive Red and Green Line BRT services. Due to space constraints on MA Jinnah Road, there won’t be a dedicated path from Jamia Cloth to the Tower, and the bus will travel alongside other cars. Every day, the Green Line provides travel services to roughly 40,000 individuals, he said, adding that with the extension of the Green Line, the goal of providing services to about 100,000 passengers daily will be reached.
He said Green Line and Red Line are major mass transit projects whose early completion will meet the travel needs of the citizens of Karachi to a great extent. He said that other transport projects will connect more areas of the city to the mass transit system.
According to him, sewer and water pipes on MA Jinnah Road from Numaish to Municipal Park have been replaced.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab issued a directive ordering the removal of debris and garbage from the front of NJV School, Jamshed Nasrwanji Hall, and Municipal Park on MA Jinnah Road so that Muharram procession participants would not encounter any difficulties.
He commanded that every effort be made to provide amenities for the populace, stressing that special emphasis must be paid to infrastructure development. In this regard, the Sindh Government and KMC would offer every type of assistance and support.
