US Ambassador Donald Blome participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Government High School Adam Khan Panhwar in the Jacobabad district of Sindh. Expressing his delight, Ambassador Blome conveyed his pleasure in representing the American government and its people at this significant event.
The US ambassador emphasized the importance of the newly inaugurated school, marking a noteworthy milestone as the 100th school constructed through the support of the Sindh Basic Education Programme, an initiative led by USAID.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Blome stated, “I am happy to join the opening ceremony of the school on behalf of the American government and the people. This is the 100th school to be built with the help of the Sindh Basic Education Programme of USAID.”
He highlighted the program’s objective, aiming to establish modern schools in ten districts of Sindh, including Jacobabad, to provide access to quality education. Reflecting on the challenges faced during last year’s floods, he assured the community that the United States remains committed to rebuilding and supporting growth and prosperity.
The newly inaugurated school is not only a reflection of collaboration for rehabilitation but also for reconstruction. It serves as more than a school, acting as a flood shelter during emergencies and fostering interaction between parents and the local population. The school is equipped with modern facilities such as a computer lab, a science laboratory, and new classrooms with furniture.
Ambassador Blome shared that a total of 106 schools, following the same model, will be constructed under the Sindh Basic Education Programme, providing quality education to over 8,000 boys and girls by 2023. He expressed gratitude to the Sindh education minister, the school education and literacy department, and all those involved in making this initiative possible. The ambassador looks forward to witnessing how the new institution contributes to the collective good of the wider population.
