The staff of the Sindh Food Authority in Liaquatabad, Karachi, has been suspended following allegations of extortion from shopkeepers. The Director General of the Sindh Food Authority, Agha Fakhar Hussain, took swift action after reports of extortion surfaced on Dawn News.

Earlier reports indicated that a Sindh Food Authority team in Karachi was accused of collecting alleged extortion instead of fines for SOP violations. The team allegedly collected 10 thousand rupees from each shop in Liaquatabad and subsequently fled the scene in a car.
