The Sindh High Court has issued a significant order calling for the demolition of illegal constructions within the premises of the Karachi Admin Employees Society. The court’s decision came in response to a petition submitted by a concerned citizen, highlighting the unauthorized constructions and seeking legal intervention.
The High Court’s ruling directs the Directorate General of Special Building Control and Authority (DGSBCA) to oversee the removal of the illegal structures. The court emphasized that the demolition process should be carried out under the supervision of a qualified architectural engineer to ensure the safe and efficient execution of the task. Importantly, the financial responsibility for the demolition rests upon the builder who initiated the unauthorized constructions.
The petitioner’s legal representative, Advocate Usman Farooq, presented a compelling case, underscoring that despite prior court orders and notices, illicit construction activities had continued unabated. The court was presented with recent photographic evidence showcasing the ongoing unauthorized constructions. The builder, it was argued, had embarked on the construction project without obtaining the requisite permits mandated for such undertakings.
The illegal constructions have reportedly been taking place within Plot No. B 172, Block 5, of the Karachi Admin Employees Society. Despite a formal complaint lodged with the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), no substantial actions had been taken to curtail the unauthorized construction endeavors.
The Sindh High Court’s decisive order to demolish the illegal constructions underscores the judiciary’s commitment to upholding legal norms and safeguarding urban planning regulations. This ruling serves as a significant deterrent to unauthorized construction activities and reinforces the principle of accountability within development projects.
