No heatwave in Karachi: Meteorological Department

Sending citizens mixed signals yet again, the Meteorological Department has now said that no heatwave is expected in Karachi till the middle of this month.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said that the weather in Karachi will remain hot and humid till May 9 and the maximum temperature is likely to be 34 to 36 degrees Celsius while a heatwave is not expected in Karachi till mid-May.

He said that the intensity of heat is likely to increase in Upper Sindh from May 7 and the temperature is likely to remain above 45 degrees Celsius.

According to Sardar Sarfraz, a cyclone is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure situation is likely in the Bay of Bengal on May 7 or 8, a low-pressure area could lead to a cyclone.

The chief meteorologist said that the cyclone would have an impact on Bangladesh and Myanmar but there was no threat to the coastal areas of Pakistan.
