The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation has announced the commencement of a significant operation against eighteen defaulting private cooperative housing societies starting from October 14. These societies collectively owe over 47.6 million to the Water Corporation.
After granting a one-week grace period for these defaulters, the Water Corporation has decided to take action. In the first phase of the operation, the water connections of these eighteen private cooperative housing societies will be disconnected. Following this, in the second phase, the drainage connections of these societies will also face disconnection.
The decision to initiate this operation comes as part of the Water Corporation’s efforts to recover outstanding dues and expand its revenue and tax database. Additionally, the Water Corporation has sought details from the Sindh Building Control Authority regarding buildings, flats, and plazas in Karachi as part of its mission to enhance its financial records.
