The Karachi Police have recorded the arrest of 2189 illegal Afghan residents in various areas of the city throughout the current year, according to official records. A total of 721 cases have been registered against these individuals under the Foreigners Act.
The breakdown of arrests and cases reveals a consistent effort by the police to address the issue of illegal Afghan residents in Karachi. In January, 100 Afghan nationals were arrested in 48 cases. Subsequently, 59 cases were registered in February, leading to the arrest of 180 individuals. In March, 29 cases resulted in 83 arrests.
The trend continued with 79 arrests in April following 31 cases, 121 arrests in May with 23 cases, and 205 arrests in June based on 64 cases. In July, 46 cases led to 195 arrests, while August saw 71 arrests from 22 cases. September recorded the highest figures with 817 arrests from 249 cases. In October, up to the current date, 338 Afghans have been arrested in 150 cases.
All individuals arrested are facing charges under the Foreigners Act, reflecting the ongoing efforts of Karachi Police in enforcing immigration control and addressing the issue of undocumented Afghan residents in the city.
