Karachi experiences extreme winds, single-digit temp tonight

On Thursday morning, chilly winds swept through the city as a severe cold wave that could cause temperatures to drop to single digits between January 12 and January 17 was predicted.

The city’s temperature dropped to 17 degrees Celsius on Thursday morning, with winds gusting to 35 kilometres per hour, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

According to the weather service, the city will experience winds of 35 to 40 kilometres per hour and a temperature range between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days.

Under the influence of the westerly winds that arrived in Karachi on Wednesday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecast a drop in temperature in the city over the next few days.

According to PMD, cold weather is likely to grip Karachi and other parts of the province between January 12 and 17.

According to the met department, temperatures in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta and Tando Muhammad Khan are likely to reach below 5°C whereas in Shaheed Benazirabad, Noshero Feroz, Khairpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, and Sanghar the temperature will touch 3°C during the said period.
