Karachi: 39 die from electrocution in rain

A report released by the Edhi Foundation shows that at least 39 people died of electrocution in Karachi due to the monsoon rains this season. The monsoon rains have increased the miseries of Karachites as several areas have witnessed long power failures.

Based on the report released by the Edhi Foundation, 39 deaths were recorded due to electrocution in the last two months during four monsoon rain spells.

Out of all, 26 deaths were reported in the month of July due to electrocution and another 13 people were electrocuted to death in Karachi during the month of August.

Sources said the Karachi police has also started gathering contact details of heirs of the persons died from electrocution in the metropolis, reported ARY News. The police will be reviewing the First Investigation Report (FIR) as well.

Earlier, Nepra had taken due notice of these tragic deaths in Karachi and had asked citizensto report such incidents to the concerned authorities. As stated by a spokesperson of NEPRA, a special email address has been created for the purpose of collecting information from citizens regarding these deaths so that the cause of death could be investigated and concerned bodies be regulated.
