In October 2021, Karachi reported the lowest number of street crimes in all of 2021.
Additional IG Karachi Imran Yaqub Minhas said in a meeting that the efforts of Karachi police have led to a significant reduction in street crimes in the city and the police are working to further improve the situation.
According to the data provided by Karachi police, 7064 street crimes was reported in Karachi in June 2021. According to the report, in October 2021, only half the number, i.e, 3404 incidents of street crime were reported in Karachi.
According to police officials, 1114 incidents of mobile phone snatching were reported in Karachi in October, while the April incidents of the same category were twice as high.
According to statistics, April 2021 saw 30 four-wheelers stolen — the highest number this year — while in October, the number was 9.
In August 2021, 410 motorcycles were snatched from Karachiites at gunpoint, while the number of motorcycles snatched at gunpoint in October was 198.
