IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon dismissed claims of bandit rule in Karachi, stating that the city’s larger population compared to some countries makes it susceptible to street crime. He also clarified that he does not recognize any "no-go area” in the city.
Memon stressed the importance of coordination between the police and journalists and acknowledged the need for increased accountability within the police department. He also pledged to take strict action against the facilitators of robbers in an effort to improve the law and order situation.
To combat crime, the IG Sindh emphasized the use of technology, citing successful implementation around the world. He also revealed that since January, the police have saved 170 individuals from kidnappings.
On the issue of ghost employees, Memon explained that people who used to receive salaries while sitting at home are now spreading propaganda against the application process.
Regarding the tragic murder of PhD scholar Ajmal Sawand, the IG Sindh expressed condolences and acknowledged the loss to society. He assured that the victim’s family has taken the legal route to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
