Karachi’s coronavirus situation deteriorates as the positivity ratio hit 20%, shared in the latest stats by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Around 1,314 citizens tested positive on Friday, while 867 patients are hospitalized of them 562 are on high flow oxygen, details shared by CM Sindh.
Stressing on the death toll, the number of Covid-19 affected deaths have risen to 5,697 when 25 more people lost the battle against the disease, shared in the stats.
District East is highly affected with 356 active cases, while other districts are also affected with rising number, 287 to District Central, 251 to District Korangi, 190 to District South, 122 to District Malir and 108 to District West, taking the total tally to 1,314.
CM Sindh has urged the public to follow SOPs or else strict action will be taken against them.
Earlier the government has also decided on the closure of primary schools, proposed by health department, and in-door dinning for two weeks, said Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah.
On Tuesday, the Sindh Health Department had confirmed detecting 35 cases of the coronavirus Delta variant in Karachi.
According to a statement issued in this regard, from June till now, there had been 35 verified cases of the Delta variant found in selected COVID-19 positive samples. The individuals who were carrying this variant showed extreme symptoms of the virus, the statement said.
Considering the highly contagious nature of the variant, the Sindh Health Department advised everyone to restrict their movements unless absolutely necessary. The provincial government has also urged the masses to strictly adhering to the coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) in order to contain the spread of the virus.
