Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah held a meeting to discuss the Traffic Management within the port city of Karachi. He pointed out the pressing need for feasible traffic plans as the traffic jams and poor traffic flow on central roads are a serious issue faced by citizens.
In attendance were Minister Local Government Nasir Shah, CM Advisor on Law Murtaza Wahab, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shahlwani, Adl IG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon, DIG Traffic Javed Maher, PD Karachi Package Khalid Masroor and Babr Sani.
The CM pointed out Hotel Metropole, Clifton and on II Chundrigar Road areas as peak traffic hubs where the roads are congested during rush hours and added that working out traffic plans was “the need of the hour.” He said that multiple roads needed to be made one-way on the route leading from II Chundrigar Road to Shaheen Complex and ending at Avari Towers.
The Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani presented several options such as one-way, removal of signals and installation of new signals to ease the traffic.

The official suggested that the choking points at Metropole, Avari, I.I Chundrigar Road had to be dealt with the best traffic engineering techniques. He also rejected The construction of flyover and under passes as possible solutions.
He has given the traffic department three months to come up with an efficient plan for traffic management and has ordered it to be implemented during the school summer break starting from June 2020.
