A new controversy has emerged in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after the host country – Pakistan’s name was missing from the event logo during the broadcast of the India-Bangladesh match at Dubai Stadium.
Fans, especially from Pakistan, were shocked to notice that Pakistan’s name was not mentioned on the logo, while it had been present during the Pakistan vs New Zealand match’s broadcast.
This incident followed a series of earlier issues surrounding the tournament, including India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan, the agreement on a hybrid model, and a demand that Pakistan’s name not appear on the Indian players’ jerseys, a request that the ICC did not accept.
The omission of Pakistan from the Champions Trophy 2025 logo during the India-Bangladesh match sparked outrage on social media, with many Pakistanis criticizing the ICC for the error.
In response to the backlash, an ICC spokesperson acknowledged the mistake and stated that the disappearance of Pakistan’s name was due to a technical glitch.
The spokesperson assured that this issue would be fixed in future broadcasts, clarifying that it was not possible to change the logo during the live match.
Additionally, the spokesperson confirmed that Pakistan’s name would be visible in clips shared on the ICC’s social media accounts, and the issue would be corrected in time for upcoming matches.
