The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has issued a clarification regarding the temporary parking of an international flight at Karachi Airport.

According to a PAA spokesperson, Emirates flight EK 606 arrived 23 minutes ahead of schedule. At the time of its arrival, Bay 24 was occupied, so the flight was temporarily parked at Bay 16 after consulting with the captain. Once Bay 24 became available, the aircraft was moved there.

The spokesperson further explained that PK 213 was pushed back at 1:14 AM, and by 1:21 AM, EK 606 was towed to Bay 24 for its final parking spot.

The airport staff followed all standard procedures, and no errors were made regarding the aircraft’s parking.

The PAA also confirmed that the captain of EK 606 was aware of the temporary parking arrangement at Bay 16 and did not raise any concerns.

The authority has dismissed media reports suggesting a mistake in the flight’s parking, stating that the information circulating in media is inaccurate.

Earlier to this, the PAA, in collaboration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and various security agencies, has finalized a detailed security plan ahead of Champions Trophy 2025.

Security has been heightened at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport due to the arrival of broadcasters, umpires, and other officials for the mega event scheduled to start on February 19.

According to media reports, special arrangements have been made to ensure the safety and exclusive arrangements for teams, international media personnel, broadcasters, and officials.

The teams will be received at the VIP terminal to ensure smooth and secure transit, while, heavy police deployment has been observed around the airport, with a focus on maintaining high-level security throughout the event.
