The government of Sindh announced its plan to install CCTV cameras at government colleges due to security concerns in Karachi.
The Directorate of College Education – Karachi region issued a circular advising principals to ensure strict security of students and staff.
“In light of the prevailing security concerns in Karachi and the rising incidents of theft, it is imperative that we take proactive measures to ensure the foolproof security of government assets, students, and staff,” the circular read.
The regional director colleges Karachi advised the responsible authorities to install CCTV cameras to cover the interior and exterior of college boundaries to assist in security framework, facilitating, surveillance, improved monitoring, incident response, and increased safety for students and staff.
Last month, a man set to marry in two weeks was gunned down by robbers in Karachi.
According to the media reports, the robbers intercepted the victim on the Banaras Flyover and tried to snatch a new motorcycle when the shooting occurred.
The deceased, identified as Jamal, a young man from Swat, was shot after resisting to the robbery attempt.
Meanwhile, the robbers managed to escape with Jamal’s new motorcycle, leaving behind his older one.
