On the occasion of New year, Karachi police issued a traffic plan for the public, especially the residents of Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
On the night of December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2025, people in Karachi head towards various entertainment spots like Clifton, Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim Park, and Sea View to celebrate the New Year.
According to the media release, the traffic police informed the people to take alternative routes to reach their desired destination.
Residents of the areas from which traffic has been diverted to alternative routes are requested to carry their original identity cards with them, which will be needed to confirm their residing location in Karachi.
Routes and Alternative Routes:
Those traveling from Akhtar Colony toward Sea View must take alternate routes through Korangi Road, Sunset Boulevard Road, Gizri Bridge, and McDonald’s to reach Sea View Road.
Similarly, people from Do Darya or Golf Club to Sea View should use 26th Street of DHA to reach their destination.
For those coming from North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Liaquatabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and New Karachi, they can use M.A. Jinnah Road, Garden Road, and McDonald Sea View.
For those coming from Gadap, Bin Qasim, Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Jamshed, and Saddar, they can use Shahrae Faisal, Sindh Club Chowk, and McDonald Sea View.
From Jinnah Bridge, the citizens can head toward Mai Kolachi to Boat Basin, Bilawal House Chowrangi, and McDonald Sea View.
No traffic will be allowed in the following areas:
- PIDC Chowk (Ziauddin Road) to Ziauddin Bridge towards Lily Signal
- PIDC Chowk to Club Chowk (Club Road)
- Bilawal Chowrangi to Bahria Underpass
- Mazar Abdullah Shah Ghazi to Dotalwar
- Mazar Abdullah Shah Ghazi to 26th Street
For those returning from Sea View, designated from Clock Tower to Khayaban Ittihad Road Akhtar Colony, or Do Darya will be available. No vehicles can return via McDonald’s road.
Heavy vehicles like water tankers, trailers, and trucks will be banned from entering the city from 6:00 am until traffic normalizes.
No parking will be allowed on key roads like Shahrae Faisal, Abdullah Haroon Road, Ziauddin Road, Mai Kolachi Road, and MT Khan Road.
Important Notice:
Legal action will be taken against vehicles with broken or missing silencers or those driving recklessly.
Residents of DHA Phases 5, 6, and 7 can use intersections like 26th Street, Saba Avenue, Shaheen Signal, and others to reach Phase 8.
