Sharjeel Memon directs completion of Peoples’ Bus service stops in two months

The Sindh government has set a two-month deadline to complete construction on the remaining 40 stops of the People’s Bus Service, aiming for a January 2025 completion.

This decision was made in a meeting chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, with key officials, including Transport Secretary Asad Zamin and People’s Bus Service Project Director Sohaib Shafiq, in attendance.

Sharjeel Inam Memon underlined the importance of these modern bus stops in providing efficient, comfortable, and weather-protected facilities for passengers.

“The transport system must align with global standards to ensure sustainable and effective mobility,” he stated.

Currently, 100 bus stops have been completed, and work on the remaining two of the 40 is underway.

In addition, the Transport Department has decided to enforce mandatory scientific fitness checks for vehicles across Sindh.

Memon stated that the vehicle fitness as essential for road safety and environmental protection, and called for stricter measures to ensure compliance, including fitness evaluations during vehicle registration, transfer processes, and annual checks.

“Fitness checks help prevent accidents, reduce emissions, and ensure public safety,” he said, warning that non-compliant vehicles would face strict action.
