The funeral prayers of Rangers officials who embraced Shahadat yesterday during the ongoing protest were offered at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi.
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister, Minister of Information, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, along with senior civil and military officials, attended the ceremony.
Naik Muhammad Ramzan (47, Karak), Sepoy Gulfam Khan (29, Rawalpindi), and Sepoy Shah Nawaz (33, Sibi), were among the martyred Rangers officials.
Addressing the gathering, PM Shehbaz Sharif condemned the violence during the protests, stating, “Pakistan cannot afford chaos and bloodshed for political purposes. These violent acts are unacceptable and a grave violation of law and order.”
The martyrs will be laid to rest with full military honors in their respective hometowns.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the sacrifices of the martyred soldiers, saying, “The entire nation salutes their bravery and dedication.”
Earlier in the day, the Security has been tightened around D-Chowk as the government takes strict measures to counter the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest.
Authorities have decided to arrest individuals attempting to move toward D-Chowk and key PTI leaders leading the rally.
This follows an announcement by PTI founder Imran Khan, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, urging supporters to gather at D-Chowk for a protest and sit-in on November 24, 2024.
Convoys from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, led by key figures like Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur, have been heading to Islamabad despite roadblocks and containers set up by the government.
