In a recent operation, Sindh police conducted a successful raid in Karachi’s Bilal Colony, apprehending four individuals suspected of involvement in street crimes. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) issued a statement confirming that all four arrested suspects had been engaged in a series of street crime activities within the city.
The suspects, known for their brazen tactics, would resort to opening fire if their victims resisted during robberies. Notably, they would often employ police caps to mask their criminal activities. Among their victims was a Special Branch official named Tanveer, from whom they snatched a mobile phone and an official weapon before making their getaway.
During the operation, the police managed to recover a total of 15 stolen mobile phones, two motorcycles, four pistols, and a laptop from the possession of these alleged street criminals. Of particular note, Tanveer’s stolen mobile phone was also retrieved from the suspects’ possessions.
It was revealed that the culprits had been selling stolen mobile phones to an individual named Jehanzaib, an IT expert, for sums ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. Jehanzaib was known to alter the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) of these stolen mobile phones.
This operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to address the issue of street crime in Karachi. Previously, Sindh police had successfully apprehended four suspected street criminals during a raid in Karachi’s Surjani Town area. These arrests were part of a broader effort to combat street crime and ensure the safety of the city’s residents.
