Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced that all charged parking contracts across the city will be terminated by June 30.
He stated that moving forward, no institution, including the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), will operate charged parking services.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Kidney Hill Chlorination Pumping Station, Wahab highlighted the persistent parking issues on I.I. Chundrigar Road.
He noted that most of the land in the area is owned by Pakistan Railways (PR).

He pointed out that in 1995, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto allocated PR’s backyard to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) for parking, but PR has yet to transfer the land.
Wahab also spoke about his communication with Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, mentioning their past professional relationship, as he had been his lawyer.
He appreciated Tessori’s positive response to his letter and expressed hope that the governor would assist in securing federal funding.
Additionally, the mayor announced that 29 chlorination centers will become operational after Ramazan to ensure clean drinking water and prevent waterborne diseases in the city.
