Karachi’s administration has intensified its crackdown on profiteers, imposing heavy fines and sealing shops violating price regulations during Ramadan 2025.
On the ninth day of Ramadan 2025, 161 shopkeepers were fined a total of Rs. 1.72 million, while 05 were arrested, and 13 shops were sealed for non-compliance.
A district-wise breakdown of fines imposed on the 9th day of Ramadan includes Rs 643,000 in South District, Rs 239,000 in East District, Rs 82,000 in West District, Rs 68,000 in Central District, Rs 79,000 in Malir, Rs 335,000 in Korangi, and Rs 44,000 in Keamari.
Authorities have urged citizens to report profiteering complaints to the Commissioner’s Office control room at 021-99205634, 021-99203443, helpline 1299, or through a dedicated complaint portal.
