A Karachi court has ruled that Dua Zahra’s marriage to Zaheer Ahmed is valid, rejecting an application to declare their marriage certificate fake.
According to media reports, the court stated that the proper legal forum must be approached for annulment proceedings.
It is worth noting here that, Dua Zahra was previously declared a minor and moved to a shelter home but later returned to her parents.
Dua’s father had filed a case seeking to annul the marriage.
In July last year, the court granted custody of Dua to her parents, requiring them to submit a Rs 200,000 bond.
The family court also instructed the parents to provide for her education, food, and other needs, mandating her presence in court whenever required.
The court noted that Dua willingly chose to live with her parents and that Zaheer Ahmed failed to prove any mistreatment.
Court records confirm that Dua’s parents took all necessary steps to ensure her safety. The Sindh High Court had already granted her temporary custody to them in an earlier ruling.
