Sindh launches crackdown on weapon dealers for price violations

The Sindh government has decided to take strict action against weapon dealers across the province, including Karachi, for failing to display price lists.

The move comes under the enforcement of the Consumer Protection Act, which mandates transparency in pricing.

According to the Assistant Director of the Bureau of Supply, Mir Shahnawaz, dealers selling weapons and explosives are legally required to display their price lists, under Section 18 of the Sindh Consumer Protection Act, the price of any item being sold must be clearly mentioned.

The non-compliance with this regulation has led the Bureau of Supply Prices department to file a complaint in court under the Act.

Meanwhile, a hearing has been scheduled for March 13.

Mir Shahnawaz further stated that the complaint was filed under Section 26 of the Sindh Consumer Protection Act 2014, along with other relevant legal provisions.

All arms dealers across the province are now required to maintain uniform pricing and prominently display rate lists. Authorities have warned that legal action, including shop closures, will be taken against those who fail to comply with government orders.
