Karachi BRT construction damages another water pipeline

Karachi water pipeline damage

The ongoing construction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Karachi has caused significant disruption on University Road, where another water pipeline was accidentally damaged.

The burst pipeline led to severe traffic congestion as water flooded the road, creating a pond-like situation between Hassan Square and Jail Chowrangi.

Water tankers attempting to collect water got stuck in the flood, further worsening the traffic situation.

Despite the chaos, traffic police were noticeably absent, leaving commuters facing long delays and detours.

It is worth mentioning here that a leak in the water supply line on University Road near Nipa Chowrangi disrupts services to Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

The leak, caused by ongoing development work on one of Karachi’s busiest roads, has made life difficult for residents in the affected areas.

In addition to the water disruption, standing water on the road near the old Sabzi Mandi makes it challenging to travel from the Civic Center to Kashmir Park.

The situation has worsened the already congested traffic, which is further hindered by the ongoing construction of a public transport project.

Despite several days passing since the leak was detected, authorities have not yet resolved the issue, leaving commuters and citizens struggling with the traffic disruptions.
