Former Indian batter and analysts believe that while Pakistan’s current pace attack is talented, but they need 5-10 years to reach the legendary status of Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, or Shoaib Akhtar.
Speaking at a digital channel, Sehwag asserted that Pakistan’s current pace attack is talented but they need 5-10 years to reach legendary status.
“They are definitely good bowlers, but to be considered great, one needs years of experience, a high number of wickets, and an improved economy rate,” he noted. “It takes time, and we can judge their place among the greats in 5-10 years.”
Shaheen Afridi’s form after his injury has been a topic of discussion. “Since his return, his performances haven’t been the same as before,” Sehwag observed.
“It’s a natural process – players take time to regain rhythm. Even India’s Mohammad Shami struggled after his injury before getting back to form.”
Pakistan’s pacers have shown promise, but for now, comparisons with past greats remain premature.
