Karachi colleges ban fees collection in cash payments

Karachi Colleges fee

The Directorate of Colleges Education in Karachi has officially banned all colleges in the city from accepting the fee in cash from students.

A notification issued by Regional Director Faqir Muhammad Lakho instructed college principals to ensure no cash fees are collected at student service counters. Instead, payments should be made directly into the college’s designated bank accounts.

The directive holds college principals accountable for any irregularities related to cash fee collection.

This decision follows a recent incident at Government College for Women Nazimabad and Jinnah College Nazimabad, where a superintendent at a government college in Karachi fled after embezzling over Rs 900,000 in examination fees collected from students.

As a result, 250 students were unable to receive their admit cards on time.

In response, Dr. Zafar, the Controller of Examinations at the University of Karachi, urgently issued admit cards to the affected students.

Meanwhile, the college principal has filed an FIR against the individuals responsible for the embezzlement.
