Karachi: Authorities to takes action on land grabbing complaints of traders

The Sindh government has taken immediate action in response to complaints of land grabbing by Karachi traders.

In response to these concerns, the provincial government has formed a five-member committee to investigate the issue.

The committee, headed by Umar Farooq Buriro, a member of Goth Abad, will review the land and asset transfer records across the seven districts of Karachi.

The committee is tasked with submitting its findings to the government within 90 days.

This move follows a recent meeting between Karachi traders, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

During the meeting, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari encouraged traders to bring any complaints directly to him, particularly those concerning the Sindh CM, and assured them that they would not need to seek help elsewhere.

Bilawal also reminded the traders of the times when extortion and strikes were widespread in Karachi, urging them to see the Sindh government as a partner rather than an adversary.

He appealed to the business community to show the same support they had previously extended to PTI and MQM.
