PTA urges travelers to pay FBR taxes for mobile registration

FBR mobile registration tax

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reminded international travelers arriving in Pakistan to fulfill their tax obligations with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for mobile device registration under the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS).

In a statement issued on Thursday, PTA clarified that it offers a temporary registration option for travelers with short-term stays.

However, those planning to stay for more than 120 days or wishing to use mobile services continuously must formally register their devices and pay the necessary taxes set by FBR.

“International travelers are strongly urged to complete device registration through DIRBS and settle FBR tax obligations promptly to avoid service disruptions,” the statement read.

PTA emphasized that the taxes are exclusively imposed and collected by FBR. Complying with these tax requirements ensures uninterrupted access to local mobile networks and adherence to national regulations.

The PTA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a transparent and efficient telecommunications environment while encouraging regulatory compliance.
