Pakistan Railways has rolled out a new ticket and refund policy for passengers.
Under the updated policy, passengers will be able to receive up to 90 percent of the ticket cost refunded if they cancel their tickets at least 48 hours before the train’s departure.
For tickets purchased through the ‘Rabat’ app, the same refund rules will apply.
Refunds of 80 percent will be available for cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before departure, while 70 percent will be refunded if the cancellation occurs within 24 hours of departure.
If the cancellation is made within 2 hours after the train’s departure, passengers will receive a 50 percent refund.
If a train is delayed by 6 hours or more, passengers will be eligible for a full refund. Refunds for tickets purchased at the point of sale (POS) will only be processed at the respective counters, where passengers must submit the original ticket along with a copy of their CNIC to receive a cancellation slip and refund.
For online tickets, refunds will only be processed through the same online service used for booking.
The refund policy for online tickets mirrors that of POS purchases, but no refund will be provided after the train departs. Additionally, tickets cannot be canceled within 90 minutes of departure.
Pakistan Railways encourages passengers to familiarize themselves with the refund rules and seek further information from railway stations or the official website for assistance.
