New Zealand eases visa rules, allow visitors to work remotely

New Zealand, known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich culture, is making it easier for tourists to visit by relaxing its visa rules.

Starting January 27, travelers can now work remotely while sightseeing, helping to boost the country’s tourism sector and economy.

Immigration Minister Erica Stanford announced that the visitor visa changes would allow holidaymakers to take up work during their stay, creating a new market for those looking to experience both tourism and employment in New Zealand.

Stanford explained that digital visas have been “extraordinarily popular” overseas, and the country aims to attract those who want to work and explore simultaneously.

Though unsure how many people will take advantage of the change, the move is expected to benefit both tourists and the local economy.

Document Requirements for New Zealand Visa:

  • A passport photo (or two if using a paper application).
  • A valid passport or identity document.
  • A medical certificate to prove good health.
  • A police character certificate.
  • A return ticket and proof of accommodation (e.g., hotel bookings).

Bank Statement:

Evidence of sufficient funds, with at least NZ$1,000 per month for the stay (or $400 per month).

Visa fees currently stand at NZ$310 per person, along with a $100 International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL).
