Trump announces deportation of illegal immigrants, declares national emergency

In his first address after being sworn in as the 47th president of the United States, President Donald Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border, vowing to deport millions of illegal immigrants from US.

Trump stated that criminals from around the world have illegally entered the country, and his administration would take immediate action to send them back.

He criticized the previous political establishment, claiming that previous governments had failed to protect the nation’s borders and address internal issues, while continuing costly overseas campaigns.

He emphasized that today marked a new era of freedom for American citizens, and promised to correct many systemic problems, including an education system that he termed makes Americans ashamed of their own country.

The new president targeted the Biden administration, accusing it of providing sanctuary to dangerous criminals and allowing them to enter the US unlawfully.

Trump announced plans to send troops to the US-Mexico border and reinstate the “Stay in Mexico” policy, requiring immigrants and asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for immigration hearings.

Additionally, he declared that Mexican drug cartels would be designated as foreign terrorist organizations and vowed to eliminate foreign criminal networks from the US.

Trump’s comeback marks the completion of a remarkable political journey, having survived two impeachment trials, a felony conviction, two assassination attempts, and an indictment for attempting to overturn his 2020 election defeat.

The inauguration ceremony took place indoors at the US Capitol Rotunda, a shift from the usual outdoor setting due to extreme cold.

This is the first time in 40 years the swearing-in ceremony was moved indoors. The event also marked the first time since the 19th century that a president has won a second term after losing the White House.

The Trumps began their day with a visit to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, joined by several tech executives, including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, meanwhile, TikTok CEO Shou Chew was also present inside the Rotunda with the special seating typically reserved for former presidents and distinguished guests.
