Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced a Gaza Million March on Sunday, January 12, at Karachi’s Sea View to show solidarity with Palestinians suffering under Israeli oppression.
The march will begin at Nishan-e-Pakistan on Sunday evening today, with JI Karachi chapter leader Munem Zafar urged all residents of Karachi to join and stand united with the people of Gaza.
Speaking on the preparations, Zafar condemned the ongoing violence, stating that Gaza is facing genocide and a siege, with over 85 percent of the territory destroyed by Israel, backed by international forces.
Zafar also highlighted the importance of Palestine to Muslims, calling it the land of Prophets and the first Qibla. He stressed that the freedom of Palestine is a matter of faith for the entire Muslim community.
The United Nations reported that more than 46,000 Palestinians have died since October 2023, with the majority being women and children.
