Pakistan’s top batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have made notable progress in the latest ICC Test Batting Rankings, while Saud Shakeel has seen a sharp decline.
The rankings were released on Wednesday following Pakistan’s whitewash in the two-match Test series against South Africa, which included a ten-wicket defeat in the second Test.
Shakeel, who scored a fighting 84 in the first Test’s second innings, struggled in the second match, scoring a duck in the first innings and only 23 runs in the second.
As a result, he dropped five places to 11th in the rankings, with 724 rating points.

Babar Azam, who ended his half-century drought in the first Test, continued his strong form with scores of 58 and 81 in the second Test.
This performance led to a five-place rise to 12th in the rankings, while Rizwan also contributed with scores of 46 and 41, gaining two spots to reach 19th.
Pakistan’s skipper Shan Masood saw a significant rise, jumping 12 places to 45th after his impressive 145-run knock in the second Test innings.
