The Tourism Authority in Pakistan has issued guidelines for tourists planning to visit northern areas during winter.
With the onset of snowfall in the northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the spokesperson of the Tourism Authority directed the tourists to carry essential items before visiting tourist destinations and use snow chains and warm clothes for snowy places.
The spokesperson stated that the tourists can also get information from the Tourism Helpline 1422 before setting off on their journey.
Tourism Police personnel are on duty at various tourist destinations including Kalash, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said that the first snowfall of 2025 has started in the Kalash and Kalam valleys, while the mountains of Lower Chitral have also covered themselves with a white sheet.
After a prolonged drought in the Kalam Valley of Swat, recent snowfall has significantly enhanced the region’s natural beauty, while also intensifying the cold temperatures.
According to the Meteorological Department, snowfall is expected to persist intermittently for the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the local administration has encouraged citizens to visit the valley to enjoy the weather. However, the snowfall has disrupted traffic flow, causing difficulties for travelers.
