Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah suggested talks between the leaders of major parties, saying that if Nawaz Sharif, Asif Zardari and Imran Khan sit together, the 70 year old crisis of Pakistan could be resolved in just 70 days.
Speaking during a function, he stressed that both negotiation committees of major political parties follow the guidance of these leaders, suggesting that their direct involvement could bring about quicker solutions.
On the other hand, Khawaja Saad Rafique, addressing a function, blamed three types of remote-controlled democracy for Pakistan’s ongoing crises.
He identified military control, politicians becoming kings, and a few judges making crucial decisions behind closed doors as the main factors destabilizing the country.
Rafique argued that it is unsustainable for politicians to remain passive while former army chiefs continue to hold influence over the country’s affairs.
In a separate statement, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq responded to opposition concerns, saying that there should be no restrictions on opposition members speaking in the National Assembly.
He urged them to focus on addressing both their own problems and those of the people.
