The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to unveil the shortlists for the ICC Awards 2024, which will recognize the best performers from a thrilling year of international cricket.
Starting today, the ICC will announce nominees across nine of the 12 award categories, featuring standout players from major events such as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The shortlists will be revealed from December 28 to 30, with each category featuring four names.
The categories include the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year and the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year.
Here’s the timeline for the shortlist announcements:
- December 28: Shortlists for ICC Emerging Men’s and Women’s Cricketers of the Year.
- December 29: Shortlists for ICC Men’s and Women’s T20I and ODI Cricketers of the Year.
- December 30: Shortlists for ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year, Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, and Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.
Voting
The shortlists were selected by a panel of cricket writers and broadcasters, based on on-field performances and achievements over the year.
Voting for the winners will start after the final shortlists are revealed on December 30.
Both registered fans and a panel of international cricket media, the ICC Voting Academy, will vote for the winners.
The results will be announced in late January 2025.
In addition to individual awards, five ICC Teams of the Year will be announced, with selections made by the Voting Academy.
Other categories include the ICC Men’s and Women’s Associate Cricketers of the Year and the ICC Umpire of the Year.
