The CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced that eight new planes will be added to the airline’s fleet next year.
This announcement was came during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Aviation, chaired by Nawabzada Iftikhar.
During the session, the CEO briefed the committee members, stating that after a four-year ban, the European Union had lifted restrictions on the airline, granting access to Terminal 3 at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport.
This development will allow National Airlines to operate two weekly flights between Islamabad and Paris, and facilitate connecting flights to other European destinations under the SPS agreement.
While addressing the raised concerns by the meeting members, the CEO confirmed the fleet expansion and assured the committee that measures were being taken to prevent employees from seeking refuge abroad.

The committee also discussed other matters, including the quality of food served on flights and the behavior of flight staff, CEO National Airlines mentioned that improvements had been made in food quality on their flights.
A separate agenda will be created for food quality issues, and a four-member sub-committee will monitor airport development progress.
Committee members also raised concerns about promotions and postings within the airline, with some employees reportedly not promoted for up to 10 years.
Further discussions will continue in the next meeting, where members are expected to receive additional updates on the airline’s operations, including details on flight numbers and the impact of travel agents on the airline’s finances.
