Pakistan’s public holiday schedule for 2025 which earlier announced by the Cabinet Division, shows that most of the country’s public holidays will fall on weekends, limiting citizens’ time off from work.
As per the official released notification, out of the 15 official holidays, three are expected to fall on Saturdays, while five likely to fall on Sundays.
Holidays falling on Saturday:
- Eid-al-Adha (10th Zil Haj 1446 A.H.): Saturday, 7th June, 2025
- Eid-al-Adha is a significant Islamic festival observing Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice.
- Ashura (9th & 10th Moharram 1447 A.H.): Saturday, 5th July, 2025
- Ashura commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW).
- Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1447 A.H.): Saturday, 6th September, 2025
- This holiday celebrates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW).

Holidays falling on Sunday:
- Pakistan Day: Sunday, 23rd March, 2025
- Pakistan Day marks the passing of the Lahore Resolution in 1940, which led to the creation of Pakistan.
- Eid-al-Fitr (1st Shawal 1446 A.H.): Sunday, 30th March, 2025
- Celebrates the end of the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan.
- Eid-al-Adha (10th Zil Haj 1446 A.H.): Sunday, 8th June, 2025
- Another day of Eid-ul-Azha, observing Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice.
- Ashura (9th & 10th Moharram 1447 A.H.): Sunday, 6th July, 2025
- Part of the Ashura observance, which honors the martyrdom of Imam Hussain.
- Allama Iqbal Day: Sunday, 9th November, 2025
- Honors the poet, philosopher, and politician Allama Iqbal, a key figure in the creation of Pakistan.
In total, 3 holidays will be observed on Saturdays, and 5 on Sundays, while the remaining 7 holidays fall on weekdays like Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday.
Despite the holiday announcements, many workers may not be able to enjoy an extended time off due to these weekend placements.
NOTE: The dates of holidays are announced based on anticipated dates, however, it is likely that the dates of holidays for Muslim festivals might change as subject to appearance of moon for which a separate notification will be issued by the Cabinet Division.
