ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Karachi to Host Inaugural Match, Schedule Unveiled

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the fixtures and groupings for the Champions Trophy 2025 on December 24, 2024, announcing the tournament will kick off on 19 February in Karachi.

The eight-team competition will feature 15 matches, played across Pakistan and Dubai.

In Pakistan, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi will host the games, with each venue featuring three group-stage matches.

Lahore will host the second semi-final and the final, unless India qualifies, in which case the final will be held in Dubai.

Both semi-finals and the final will have reserve days.

Group A will see Pakistan take on New Zealand in the opening match in Karachi on 19 February. India will face Bangladesh the following day in Dubai. Group B will start on 21 February, with Afghanistan playing South Africa in Karachi.

A major highlight of the tournament will be the clash between England and Australia in Lahore on 22 February, followed by the highly anticipated Pakistan-India match the day after.

The eight teams in the Champions Trophy are the top eight finishers from the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Group A consists of hosts Pakistan, current champions India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B features World Cup 2023 winners Australia, alongside Afghanistan, England, and South Africa.
