PCB changes venue for Pakistan-West Indies test series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made adjustments to the upcoming Test series between Pakistan and the West Indies, shifting the first match from Karachi to Multan due to ongoing construction at the National Stadium.

As per media reports, the first test – originally scheduled for January 16-20, 2025 in Karachi – will now take place in Multan, while the second Test, originally set for Karachi, will be played in Multan from January 24-28, 2025.

The move follows renovation work at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, which began in August.

According to local media, this is not the first time the PCB has relocated a match due to stadium issues.

Earlier, the second Test of the Pakistan-Bangladesh series, initially planned for Karachi, was moved to Rawalpindi in October, 2024.

The change comes as Pakistan prepares for the Champions Trophy 2025, with three venues – Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore – set to host the eight-nation tournament.

The PCB remains confident that all three venues will be ready for the 2025 tournament, which will be held for the first time since Pakistan’s victory over India in the 2017 final.
