IGP directs strict action against officers fails to act on public complaints

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon has issued directives for strict action against officers who fail to act on public complaints related to serious crimes.

During a meeting addressing the performance of the IG Complaint Cell, the IGP underlined the accountability for negligence in handling public complaints of theft, robbery, murder, kidnapping, and other severe crimes.

IGP Memon ordered that the Station House Officers (SHOs) and Station Investigation Officers (SIOs) who delay registering First Information Reports (FIRs) or protect criminal elements will face dismissal from their duties.

He directed the officers to file FIRs and act immediately against the complaints related to motorcycle and car theft, snatching, robbery, and other critical offenses.

He further directed that the complaints involving allegation of abuse, organized crime, corruption, and mafia patronage of mafias will be investigated by the Special Branch.

In cases of non-registration of FIRs, senior officers, including SSPs, will be held accountable, with detailed reports submitted to the Complaint Cell.

Memon stressed that public grievances must be addressed effectively, making the complaint system centralized and responsive.

He instructed all district and unit officers to ensure free and fair FIR registration while actively addressing public and internal police grievances.
