GHQ Attack Case: Indictment again postponed against PTI founder

GHQ Attack Case

The indictment proceedings against PTI founder and other accused in the May 9 GHQ attack case have once again been postponed.

The decision came after the accused named in the case failed to attend in full, with those who appeared being allowed to leave.

The case was heard by Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Special Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah.

Prosecutor Naveed Malik argued that there is substantial evidence and that delaying tactics are being used by the defense.

He stressed that there was no dispute over the occurrence of the attack on GHQ, and all witnesses and evidence are available against the accused, urging the court to cancel the bail of the accused and order their arrest.

The court adjourned the hearing until December 2, with the indictment proceedings now scheduled for the next session.

A total of 119 accused individuals are named in the case, including PTI founder, Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Sheikh Rasheed, Shireen Mazari, Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, and Raja Basharat.

During the hearing, Babar Awan filed a petition for Omar Ayub’s acquittal, and a petition was also filed to exempt Shireen Mazari from personal attendance.

It is worth mentioning here that the court has already declared 23 individuals in the case as proclaimed offenders and has imposed a travel ban on all the accused.
