Karachi has implemented extensive security measures for IDEAS 2024 – The International Defence Exhibition and Seminar – currently underway at the Karachi’s Expo Center.
A total of 4,800 police personnel have been deployed, along with support from other law enforcement agencies, to ensure a secure environment for the four-day event.
Security arrangements include the deployment of SSU commandos, Rapid Response Force units, and Special Branch personnel.
Traffic police have been stationed at key locations, while snipers have been positioned on buildings surrounding the Expo Center.
Heavy security is also in place along routes from the airport to hotels and the Expo Center, while the rangers and additional law enforcement teams are providing further reinforcements.
In line with these measures, the police released a traffic plan announcing several roads to remain closed in Karachi from 7 am to 7 pm as part of enhanced security measures for IDEAS 2024.
To enhance security, Karachi has imposed Section 144 citywide, effective from November 18 to November 24. This prohibits public gatherings, meetings, processions, and rallies during the specified period.
The defense exhibition, showcasing advancements in military technology and international collaborations, has necessitated these stringent measures to ensure public safety and the smooth conduct of the event.
