Four facilitators of blast near Karachi airport arrested

In a recent development, the authorities claimed to have arrested the four key facilitators involved in the suicide blast on Chinese convoy outside Karachi airport.

Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hasan Linjar, alongside IG Sindh and CTD officers, held a press conference revealing key developments in the investigation of the terror attack.

Minister Linjar detailed the complex network behind the attack, involving local accomplices and advanced explosives, revealing that the attackers used a vehicle loaded with 30-40 kg of RDX-based explosives, a compound historically used in World War II.

According to Linjar, the attackers received assistance from a woman, identified as Gul Nisa, who facilitated their entry into Karachi with the explosive-laden vehicle.

Nisa has been apprehended, and investigators have uncovered involvement from several suspects, including the key facilitator, identified as Javed, who conducted the recce near the Marriott Hotel.

Two other facilitators, named Farhan and Sharif, aided in the car purchase, while a banker named Bilal facilitated in smooth process of financing for the attack.

CCTV footage also confirmed Javed’s movements inside the airport and coordination with other accomplices about the arrival of Chinese nationals.

The suicide bomber was identified as Shah Fahad, with fingerprints confirming his identity.

Authorities have arrested Javed and other facilitators, including Farhan, Sharif, and Gul Nisa, with further efforts underway to locate and arrest other suspects involved in the heinous crime.

The interior minister also recommended a reward of Rs 50 million to the government for the investigation team and proposed a Quaid-e-Azam medal and a Pakistan Police medal for their dedication.

It is worth mentioning here that the attack, attributed to the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), resulted in the tragic loss of two Chinese nationals, one Pakistani, and injuries to 21 others.
