Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reportedly blocked more than 100,000 TikTok accounts for uploading immoral content.
PTA has presented a report to the Peshawar High Court (PHC) detailing the issue of obscene and blasphemous content being uploaded on TikTok and other social media platforms.
According to the findings of PTA, a total of 114,015 immoral videos have been uploaded to TikTok accounts since 2020, resulting in the blocking of 113,133 accounts associated with the content.
In the current year alone, 25,267 pieces of immoral content have been posted, with 24,800 accounts blocked in response.
The report further indicates that across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter), a total of 1,389,181 instances of immoral content were identified.
As a result, a total of 1,303,578 links have been blocked across various platforms.
The breakdown of blocked links includes 147,579 on Facebook, 22,357 on Instagram, 6,728 on Snack Video, 125,600 on TikTok, 53,162 on YouTube, and 53,842 on X.
