2 Turkish planes carrying relief goods arrive in Pakistan

On Tuesday, two additional Turkish aircraft arrived in Karachi with tents, meals, medications, and other supplies for flood victims in Pakistan.

Cemal Sagnu, the general consul of Turkey in Karachi, informed Anadolu Agency that two more aircraft are anticipated to land at Karachi’s Mohammad Ali Jinnah airport later on Tuesday night.

The Pakistan Army stated in a statement that with the most recent arrivals, a total of seven aircraft carrying help have touched down in Karachi over the last three days.

A tent village with a kitchen, hygiene supplies, and other amenities would be built by the Turkish Relief and Disaster Agency for 400 displaced households in the Badin region of southern Sindh province.

One of the hardest-hit areas, southwest Balochistan, is already home to the Turkish Red Crescent, which is supplying food and clean water to thousands of flood victims there.

With the help of violent floods and Pakistan’s most catastrophic monsoon cycles in recent memory, mountainsides, building foundations, and over 70 districts were submerged and turned into inland rivers.

According to the nation’s National Disaster Management Authority, more than a million homes have been demolished or damaged since mid-June, and almost 1,200 people have died.

A significant portion of the nation’s agricultural areas and infrastructure, including hundreds of roads and bridges, have also been wrecked by relentless rain and violent floods, and about a million animals have been lost as a result.

According to Pakistan’s Meteorological Department, the South Asian nation has experienced nearly 200% more rain this year than typical monsoon showers. Pakistan is one of the top 10 countries in the world for climate change vulnerability.
