As Pakistan heads to the ballot box, we at Times of Karachi with our partners The Citizenry and Climate Action Center, take a close look at the manifestos of some of the political parties that are stakeholders in Karachi and Sindh and analyze their party positions on climate change realities. We have included in our Climate Manifesto series, mainstream parties such as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Jamaat Islami (JI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement- Pakistan (MQM-P) alongside relatively smaller entities like the Majlis-e-Wahadat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-Haqiqi), Awami Workers Party (AWP) and Tehreek-e-Labaik (TLP). We believe that the citizens of Karachi should know what these parties have pledged to do on housing and infrastructure development, renewable and fossil fuel energy, forestation, environmental laws, living rights of rivers and adaptation plans for heat waves and urban flooding.
